Kumartuli’s artisans were originally from Krisnanagar and other parts of Nadia district of Bengal.Initially,during the season,they rented houses in Kumartuli aarea of North Calcutta and left after the festive season.After the population of Calcutta increases, they also live permanently in the area.Every year,Bagbazar Sarbojanin,Ekdalia Evergreen,Chalta Bagan,College Square,Md.Ali park,Santosh Mitra Square,Madoxx Square,Surachi Sangha,Park Circus,Barisha Club,Sri Bhumi Sporting Club,Salt Lake FD Block,Garia Metali Sangha,Babu Bagan,Badamtala Asar Sangha draw crowds for their innovative pandals .
